With its “Love the Planet” line, Terra Canis is taking a clear stance on environmental protection and social responsibility. Every time a can is sold, a small amount of money is donated to a good cause. The projects come from the fields of reforestation, cleaning up our oceans, or creating sustainable energy sources. The Love the Planet Menus contain ingredients which have a link to the respective project, as well as offering plenty of healthy elements for your dog. All environmental protection menus are designed to be easy to digest, suitable for dogs with intolerances, and to have a species-appropriate composition with ingredients exclusively in 100% real human-grade quality. With the Love the Planet menus, environmental awareness now starts in your dog’s bowl.

10 cents per can go to the “One Earth One Ocean” project
Seas of plastic, oil slicks, overfishing and “ghost nets” - our seas have to deal with diverse, ever graver environmental challenges. For every can of the Ocean Lover menu which is sold, 10 cents are donated to the environmental project One Earth - One Ocean (OEOO).

The project: One Earth One Ocean
For every can of the Terra Canis Ocean Lover menu which is sold, 10 cents are donated to the environmental project “One Earth - One Ocean” (OEOO). Since 2011, this charitable organisation based in Munich and Kiel has made it its aim to free bodies of water worldwide from plastic rubbish, as well as from oil and chemical pollution. The multi-level “maritime rubbish disposal” plan for the disposal of coastal plastic pollution in the sea aims to collect plastic using a fleet of special rubbish collection ships from bodies of water worldwide, before recycling it or turning it back into oil. As of 2020, there were “One Earth - One Ocean” projects for cleaning up plastic rubbish from bodies of water in Cambodia, Brazil, Indonesia and Egypt. Special rubbish collection ships are used, which have names such as “SeeHamster” (Sea Hamster) or “SeeKuh” (Sea Cow). Another "Sea Cow” will start operations mid-2020. The organisation is also active in Germany and internationally in terms of research into microplastics, as well as in education, awareness-raising and documentation with regard to the subject of marine littering. As far back as 2013, OEOO won the renowned GreenTec Award – Europe’s biggest prize for environment and business – for its maritime rubbish disposal concept. In 2019, the organisation was awarded the German Ecodesign Award from the German Federal Environment Ministry for its new concept for the rubbish processing ship SeeElefant (Sea Elephant), which is planned for 2021.
The Ocean Lover menu contains loads of great, healthy ingredients from the coast and the sea – without using any fish from overfished species, or any marine plants which are at risk of extinction. Healthy seas and intact coasts have plenty of healthy treasures to offer – for dogs, too! In the Ocean Lover Menu, juicy duck meat meets energy-rich millet, vitamin-laden beetroot and vital substances from the sea (Sango coral, oyster shell, seaweed, sea salt). Coconut flour and fennel ensure your dog’s gut bacteria stay in balance, as well as providing valuable nutrients and fibre. Sea buckthorn provides high levels of vitamin C for a strong immune system which will defy even the strongest of sea breezes, while cod liver oil provides energy, valuable fatty acids and additional vitamins. Aromatic herbs such as lavender and sage round the healthy coastal menu off, as do other natural additions.

Our promise of quality

With their unique concept ‘Dog nutrition in 100% human-grade quality of all ingredients, Terra Canis set completely new quality standards in the pet food industry 16 years ago. Thanks to a special permit from the government of Upper Bavaria, pet food was able to be produced for the first time in a genuine human-grade quality company, the traditional Munich butcher’s shop Schäbitz. This was made possible by the fact that, right from the very start, only ingredients were used which, thanks to their freshness and highest quality, were officially approved for human food products at the time of processing. This uncompromising quality and the associated delicious, appetising smell set Terra Canis menus still today apart from all other products on the market.
Due to the constantly increasing demand, the butcher's shop in the heart of Munich has reached its capacity limits. As quality is of the highest priority for Terra Canis, the menus will now be produced in their own new facility just outside Munich. Manufacturing the products within “the own four walls” enables maximum control over the quality of all ingredients and production processes. In addition, both master butchers from Schäbitz butcher’s in Munich and their entire team have been brought over, bringing with them decades of experience and expertise in the butcher's trade. All the ingredients used, the production site and the hygiene concept are still subject to 100% human-grade standards. Terra Canis customers can therefore continue to rely on the human-grade quality of the ingredients in all products.
